1. What is Adr_Book?
--------------------

Adr_Book is an address book program that prints mailing labels, an address
booklet, envelopes and several reports. There are phone dialing and
Emailing capabilities. Adr_Book also contains a built in web server that
turns Adr_Book into a network application. Any web browser, whether on
your local machine, on an intranet, or on the Internet can access Adr_Book
once the web server feature is activated! This is a Windows 32 bit
applications designed for Windows95/98 and NT 4.0.

The Web Server feature allows you to set the IP Address and Port number
that will be used to access Adr_Book on the net. You can customize how
the data will be presented to web browsers that connect to your Adr_Book.
You can specify if Html frames will be used, colors, and banner title.
You can also specify if adding, editing, and deleting can be performed
by people connecting over the network.

The mailing labels can be printed to meet postal requirements for best
bulk mail rates: zip code order and postal bar-code. All major Avery
standard and A4 label sizes are supported. Font, point size, color
  selections.

The envelopes can be printed in all popular sizes. The postal bar-code
can be printed. Different fonts, point sizes, and color can be specified
for the return address and delivery address.

The address booklet can be printed in multiple dimensions ranging from
  5.5" x 4.25" to 4.0" x 2.75". This is very convenient for producing
booklets of your business contacts, but is also great for organizations,
clubs, and churches. The address booklet can also be printed in color.

The phone dialing works like most others, but we like to believe it is more
  enjoyable and easier to use.

The design philosophy of Adr_Book was to make it intuitive and fun to use.
We think you will find this to be true. However, don't let this fool you
into believing Adr_Book is a simple and limited product. It has many
features that can be used for advanced application.

2. What is new since 5.7?
-------------------------

Adr_Book 5.8 adds a few more options to the dialing configuration setup.
This will resolve problems some people have had with the phone dialing.

There is a new easier way to enter registration codes to fully activate
  the Adr_Book Software.

3. INSTALLATION
----------------

  Floppy Install:
To perform the installation insert the floppy in drive A or B. Run
Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel.

  ZIP file Install:
If you have downloaded a ZIP, or self extracting archive from an online
service you will need to unpack the files to a temporary directory. Run
Add/Remove Programs for the Control Panel. Use Browse to locate the
  Setup program.

The Setup program properly installs Adr_Book for Windows into the
Windows 95/98 and NT Registry. This allows you to use the Uninstall
feature to remove all traces of the program. This will not remove any
data files that you might create.

4. Registration Information
---------------------------

  a. WHY REGISTER?
  ----------------

The shareware version of Adr_Book is limit to only 30 records in a single
data file. The registered version removes this limitation. A
registered version can hold over 10000 records in an individual data file.

You will be entitled to one year of free upgrades.

You will feel better. (maybe) Actually, We really believe this is true.

You can contact me for any support questions you might have. The best
way is to send Email mgardner@brownbearsw.com.

  > And most importantly if I can afford to take Alberta out to dinner,
  > she just might not think this was a colossal waste of time.

The above two lines were in the 1.0 release of Adr_Book. I always include
these two lines in the Readme file so as to remember the roots.

  c. WHAT WILL IT COST ME?
  ------------------------

Web Enabled Version: $34.95 US. This includes all Web features such as
Emailing and the web server/browser connection.

Standard Version: $24.95 US. This version of the program does not
include the Web features. It has been recognized
that not everyone is interested in these features
and would prefer only traditional address book
                        opertions.

There is a $3.00 US charge for postal mailing a disk in the US or
Canada. There is a $5.00 US charge for postal mailing a disk to any
     other location in the world.

There is no shipping and handling charge if the software is delivered
     electronically.

We can take Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. A check written
on US funds also works just fine. For credit card orders be sure to
     include number and expiration date.

We are sorry to say that we can not cash Eurocheques, as banks here
in the USA want to charge us $35 for handling.

We make every effort to get all orders shipped as quickly as possible. Oh!
and we would like to hear any comments and suggestions that you might have.

  Thanks

5. Hints
----------------

One feature of Adr_Book not clearly stated anywhere concerns configuration
information associated with a data file. Items such , how labels are to
be offset for printing, what fields should be displayed in the graphical
address book, etc. are part of the configuration stored with each
data file.

Almost all items that you set will be stored when you perform a save of your
file. If you make a change to a record in your data, Adr_Book will ask
you when you exit if you want to save this change. This is not true if you
make a configuration change only. Remember, if you make a configuration
item change, and you want it to be a permanent change, SAVE your data
file.
