Description
-----------

Report Maker serves for generation of the reports on
a database practically of any format. The access to
a data comes true through the program interface BDE
(Borland Database Engine) and supports personal and
Client-Server databases.

Report Maker allows you:

  - To create the reports and to keep in separate files.
  - To start the created reports.
  - To set query parameters interactively before starting
    report.
  - To set values for various inscriptions in the report.
  - To create the dialog window for appropriation values to
    query parameters and inscriptions.
  - To export the received reports to RTF, TXT, WMF formats.

Installation
------------

Important! If you've got Report Maker not from our web page,
but from the other source (magazine CD or some software
library), please visit our home page - you'll probably find
the later version;

We recommend you to uninstall the previous version of Report
Maker (if you have one) from your computer before installing
this one. You can do this via "Add/Remove Programs" Control
Panel applet. If you'll get the notification that the
Report Maker folder is not empty, be careful when removing
it: it may contain the .QR2 and .CFG files (the Reports
created by Report Maker) you may wish to keep. Uninstall,
by the way, will not remove the options you set in older
version, so the new version, being installed, will have
exactly the same settings as before.

To install Report Maker, just run the "rm0102.exe" and
follow the instructions. You'll need to select the target
directory and the components to install.

To use demo report you must specify complete path to
demo database at the description alias "RMDEMO".
You can make necessary changes by using
"BDE Administrator".

Note: the Report Maker may not run correctly if the new
version of common control library (comctl32.dll) is not
installed; the program requires version 4.70 or later
(version 4.72 is recommended). This new version is already
available in Windows 95 OEM Service Release 2 and
Windows NT 4.0; you may also have it if you're using
Internel Explorer 3.x or later. The installation program
of the Report Maker checks what version do you have, and
it'll ask you to update this file if it is old. If it will
happen, just run the "41Comupd.exe" to update your system;
reboot the computer and start the setup program again.
For your convenience, we're distributing "41comupd.exe"
together with the Report Maker setup files.
