This directory contains .dvi files for several papers 
by Robert Bryant and other coauthors.  	These .dvi file use 
the standard TeX fonts together with several of the 
AMS Fonts (2.0 or later).   They can be printed using whatever 
commands you usually use to print a .dvi file.

	Be sure to set your ftp mode to "binary" before doing
transfers of .dvi files. Please send bug reports to

	Here are the files currently available:


Lie_LectNotes.dvi:   

	The lecture notes  by Robert Bryant 
on Lie Groups and Symplectic Geometry.  This version was 
last modified on 20 September 1993.

	The Table of Contents is Page 6, so before you print out
the entire 164 pages, you probably should print out the first 
six and look at them before committing a small chunk of dead tree 
to the remainder of the manuscript.


Part1.dvi:

	The paper "Characteristic Cohomology of 
Differential Systems (I):  General Theory".  This is a joint paper
with Phillip Griffiths.  It was last modified on 3 January 1994. 
130 pages.


Part2.dvi:

	The paper "Characteristic Cohomology of 
Differential Systems (II):  Conservation Laws for a Class 
of Parabolic  Equations". This is a joint paper with 
Phillip Griffiths.  It was last modified on 14 December 1993. 
102 pages.


Rigid.dvi:

	The paper "Rigidity of Integral Curves of Rank 2 Distributions".
This is a joint paper with Lucas Hsu.  It has been accepted for
publication in Inventiones Mathematicae.  
It was last modified on 5 May 1993.	


BGH.dvi:

	The paper "Hyperbolic Exterior Differential Systems and their
Conservation Laws".  This is a joint paper with Phillip Griffiths
and Lucas Hsu.  It covers our work on hyperbolic exterior 
differential systems, introducing a series of geometric invariants
which can then be used to calculate the classical conservation
laws (even in the non-Euler-Lagrange cases) in many cases.
