The 'fix-lv.exe' file is a self-extracting .zip archive that contains
2 files, 'readme.fix', and 'fixlevel.exe'.  'fixlevel.exe' is intended
to fix the max dungeon level used by Word of Recall scrolls for people
who exploited the bug allowing you to get to -50', using the create stairs
spell.  Once you get to -50', word of recall will only transport you from
town to -50', or from the dungeon to town; never back to your old depth.
Unless you have this problem, you do not need this file.

  Remember to get the file in BINARY mode, or it will be scrambled...
